Fresh off his career resurgence with "Everything Everywhere All at Once," Ke Huy Quan is set to headline the upcoming action film "Love Hurts," where he'll once again showcase his impressive martial arts skills. However, in a recent interview with Empire magazine, the actor confessed he's wary of being typecast as an action star.

“I don’t want to be perceived as an action star,” Quan stated. “I want people to see me as an actor who is great in action sequences. So I’m taking it one step at a time to prove that. The best thing about being an actor is that you get to play all these different characters. I loved Ouroboros in 'Loki' Season 2 because he’s so different from Waymond in 'Everything Everywhere All at Once,' and Waymond is so different from Marvin Gable in 'Love Hurts.'”

Quan also shared what kind of roles he'd like to tackle in the future: “I would love to play a bad guy, like a villain in a Bond movie, or the kind of performance Hugh Grant delivered in 'The Lair of the White Worm.' I want to step out of my comfort zone and play someone who is vicious and cruel (laughs), that would be a lot of fun.”

The official synopsis for "Love Hurts" reads: Marvin Gable is a real estate agent working in suburban Milwaukee, where 'For Sale' signs are everywhere. One day, Marvin receives a crimson envelope from Rose, a partner he once left for dead, and she is seriously holding a grudge. Now, Marvin is forced back into a world of ruthless killers and double-crosses, where even an open house becomes a deadly battlefield. When his hot-tempered crime boss brother, 'Knuckles,' sends his crew after him, Marvin must confront the choices that have haunted him and the past he never truly escaped.

The cast of "Love Hurts" also includes Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose, Daniel Wu (who co-starred with Quan in "American Born Chinese"), and Sean Astin, reuniting with his co-star from "The Goonies."
