Last November, Deadline reported that Daniel Craig was confirmed to join the DC Universe, set to star in a solo film as the classic DC World War II superhero "Sgt. Rock." The project also tapped Luca Guadagnino, who recently directed Craig in "Queer" and is known for "Call Me by Your Name" (pictured left below), to helm the film. More recently, American film critic and entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider revealed a potential release window on his regular YouTube program, "The Hot Mic."

Sneider indicated that "Sgt. Rock" is slated to begin filming this fall, with a potential release around Memorial Day in 2026. Given Sgt. Rock's military background, this holiday weekend would be a fitting and thematic release date for the film.

"Sgt. Rock" has a screenplay penned by Justin Kuritzkes, who also wrote Guadagnino's two directorial efforts last year, "Challengers" and "Queer." While plot details remain scarce, multiple sources suggest the film will be set within the main DC Universe, overseen by DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn, rather than existing as a standalone timeline like the "Joker" series.
