The popular assembly model candy toy series "SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT", released by Japan's Bandai Candy toy division, has announced the latest product from the classic robot anime "Space Runaway Ideon": the "Ideon Activation Set (RENEWAL Ver.)", scheduled for release in June 2025.
Space Runaway Ideon is the strongest weapon restored and modified by Earthlings after excavating the ruins of the Sixth Civilization. The robot form, created by the combination of three machines, stands at an impressive 105 meters tall and weighs 5,650 tons. Driven by the infinite power "IDE," it exhibits overwhelming combat capabilities. Its melee attacks alone can deliver massive kinetic force, and 16,000 missiles are concealed throughout its body, capable of simultaneous multi-directional firing. In the mid-to-late stages of the story, it gains weapons powered by a small black hole "MBH": the "Wave Leader Gun," which fires wave-breaking rays that destroy vast amounts of surrounding matter, and the "Ideon Sword," where long-range light beams emitted from both arms converge into a giant sword, powerful enough to cleave a planet in two.
The "SMP Ideon Activation Set (RENEWAL Ver.)" is an updated version based on the SUPER MINIPLA release from 2016. The overall material has been adjusted from PS to ABS, enhancing articulation durability. For the Ideon Delta and Ideon Booster before combination, the wing sections, which previously relied on stickers for color, are now pre-painted. Many areas that were simplified in the old version now include additional stickers. The head also features a new part with "scan line" details, elevating its overall texture.
Other designs remain largely the same. Once completed, the three Ideon units can reproduce their land and flight forms by swapping parts, and they can combine to form Ideon, standing approximately 18 cm tall. After combination, each joint boasts excellent articulation. The set also includes the large weapon "Wave Leader Gun" and a dedicated stand, allowing for the recreation of powerful firing scenes.
