BANDAI SPIRITS' collector's toy division, TAMASHII NATIONS, has announced the latest product from the "METAL ROBOT Damashii" series, which combines metallic paint finishes with alloy frames, "Ryūōmaru" from "Mashin Hero Wataru," slated for release in July 2025.
Ryūōmaru is a new form born from the revival of the once-deceased Ryūjinmaru through sacred water, combined with the soul of Kūjinmaru. Due to Kūjinmaru's soul residing within, it gains the ability to fly and can transform from its humanoid "Mashin Form" into the bird-like "Phoenix King Form." Its attack styles are fundamentally similar to Ryūjinmaru's, but their power has been significantly enhanced. Its weapon and special move have also evolved from "Tōryūken" to the even more powerful "Hōryūken."
The "METAL ROBOT Damashii Ryūōmaru" has been redesigned based on anime setting illustrations and previous ROBOT Damashii versions, incorporating alloy joints for superior articulation. The overall sculpt adheres to the refined design from the original work, featuring a cool, sharp-edged head sculpt. Various parts of the body are adorned with luxurious color applications based on its appearance in the show, with multiple metallic paint finishes used on the head, limbs, and weapon to express texture. The golden dragon reliefs on both shoulders are rendered with a mirror-finish bright gold.
In addition to the reinforced stability provided by the alloy joints, some articulation designs and transformation mechanisms have been improved compared to the ROBOT Damashii version. Both the regular "Mashin Form" and the "Phoenix King Form," achieved by swapping some parts, boast enhanced poseability. The three-stage movable joints in the arms allow for dynamic two-handed sword-wielding poses, and in Phoenix King Form, the head, wings, and legs can also be articulated. Accessories include the "Hōryūken," "Shield Sheath," various interchangeable hand parts, and, for the first time, a three-dimensional phoenix-shaped effect part representing the special move "Hōryūken" in action.
