Following "Kenma Kozume" and "Tetsurou Kuroo," Kotobukiya's "ARTFX J" series, renowned for its exquisite three-dimensional ACG character figures, is once again releasing a new product based on the super popular anime "Haikyuu!!" – the "Tooru Oikawa" 1/8 scale pre-painted figure. It has a suggested retail price of 19,800 JPY and is scheduled for release in September 2025!
Third-year "Tooru Oikawa" is the captain of Aoba Johsai. His formidable cannon serves and precise ball control repeatedly threatened Karasuno's players in the series. Oikawa was Kageyama's senior in middle school and also someone he looked up to, which led Shouyou to bestow upon him the title of "Great King," a rank even higher than Kageyama's "King of the Court."
This Tooru Oikawa figure is based on an illustration drawn by Takahiro Chiba, the animation director for "Haikyuu!!". With exquisite craftsmanship, the tree stump base is realistically rendered, capturing his dynamic pose sitting cross-legged on it. The sculpting faithfully recreates the flowing movement of Aoba Johsai's volleyball team jacket and the lean muscle lines of his arms and legs. Partial airbrushing deepens and enhances the overall light and shadow contrast, and the jersey number on his chest and the Aoba Johsai volleyball team logo on his back are faithfully printed, boldly showcasing the powerful aura of the Great King!
