Released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., the "METAL ROBOT Damashii" series, which combines metallic paint finishes and die-cast frames, has officially announced the latest product from the new Gundam series anime, 《機動戰士Gundam GQuuuuuuX》, the "White Gundam", slated for release in June 2025.
The protagonist of 《機動戰士Gundam GQuuuuuuX》, Yoha Amate, is a high school girl living a peaceful daily life in a space colony. One day, feeling a sense of unreality, she encounters the war refugee girl Nean. She accidentally becomes the pilot of the mysterious mobile suit "GQuuuuuuX" and gets embroiled in the illegal MS dueling competition, 《戰團對決》. From then on, Yoha adopts the alias 《瑪秋》 and dedicates herself to intense daily battles.
The RX-78-02 White Gundam was originally the latest mobile suit developed by the Earth Federation Forces in Universal Century 0079. However, due to the successful snatch operation carried out by the Principality of Zeon's ace pilot, Char Aznable, this unit, along with the Pegasus-class assault landing ship No. 1 "Pegasus", fell into the hands of the Principality of Zeon. After modifications, it became Char's personal machine, the "Red Gundam". However, in an accident at the end of the One Year War, Char and the Red Gundam disappeared... In Universal Century 0085, a mysterious young pilot appears in the illegal MS dueling competition, 《戰團對決》, piloting the Red Gundam.
The "METAL ROBOT Damashii Red Gundam", with a height of approximately 15.5 cm and a die-cast movable frame specification, recreates the White Gundam, incorporating the strong personal style of Ikuto Yamashita. Through intricate detailing, it reproduces the EVA-esque head, the slender body proportions, and the armor design that blends old and new elements across the entire body.
The movable frame, including the chest, hips, limbs, and backpack, is constructed with numerous die-cast parts. In addition to providing firm and robust joint strength, the overall low center of gravity gives the Gundam a stable lower body, and the die-cast feet achieve high ground contact. At the same time, the unique joint design allows for flexible and natural movements, such as the large groove design of the hip joint, which allows for significant leg raises completely bypassing the front skirt armor. The movable frame in the chest can link with the shoulders, expanding the range of motion for the shoulder joints, and so on.
The overall color scheme uses Char's signature custom machine colors, utilizing various shades of red and orange-yellow to express the differences and layers of the exterior armor parts. Some exposed die-cast frame parts are electroplated, showcasing the premium texture of a die-cast toy.
In addition to standard Gundam armaments such as a beam rifle, beam saber, and a shield emblazoned with the Zeon emblem, the iconic special armament from the original source, the "Meteor Hammer", is also included, with its chain parts made of metal to convey a weighty texture. The two massive "Funnel" armaments, most impressive in the show, are also included. Each boasts a huge length of 10 cm and can be hung on either side of the shoulder armor, or displayed in firing mode with the dedicated stand and auxiliary supports.
