Fans of classic Japanese mystery manga are no strangers to "The Kindaichi Case Files." Late last year, the sequel series, "Kindaichi 37-Year-Old's Case Files," wrapped up, teasing Kindaichi's marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Miyuki Nanase, and the impending arrival of their child. It also announced a new series, "Kindaichi Papa's Case Files," set to launch in January 2025.
The first two chapters of "Kindaichi Papa's Case Files" are now live on Kodansha's Comic Days manga app and official website. The big reveal? Kindaichi Hajime and Miyuki Nanase's child is officially named "Tsukumo," a surprise that has certainly sparked excitement among fans!

"Kindaichi Papa's Case Files" picks up with former genius high school detective Kindaichi Hajime, who, after years in the corporate grind, has ditched his office job to become a stay-at-home dad, focusing on raising his son. His son is now in first grade (meaning roughly seven more years have passed since the previous series).
He's also opened the "Kindaichi Hajime Detective Agency," initially expecting to take on minor cases while balancing family life and sleuthing. But as fate would have it, "where there's a detective, there's always a major incident," and he soon finds himself entangled in a fresh wave of mysteries.

Kindaichi and Miyuki's son, Kindaichi Tsukumo

In the very first chapter, a 1-million-yen request forces Kindaichi, needing to support his family, to take on a major case. He even brings his son, Tsukumo, who's on holiday, along to the client's location. The curious Tsukumo is naturally eager to see what new and exciting things await.

Currently, the first two chapters of "Kindaichi Papa's Case Files" are available on Kodansha's Comic Days official website. If you're curious, go check them out!
What kind of adventures await Kindaichi as a father? And how will his interactions with his son unfold? We'll have to wait and see what the future holds for the series!
