Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd. announced the latest product from "Samurai Sentai Shinkenger," the "Shodo Phone -MEMORIAL EDITION-", scheduled for release in August 2025.
The 33rd Super Sentai series, "Samurai Sentai Shinkenger," which aired in 2009, depicts the head of the Shiba family, Takeru Shiba, leading several retainers to form the Samurai Sentai, defending humanity from the "Gedoshu" monsters residing in the Sanzu River. In addition to being exceptional swordsmen, the Shinkengers can use the "Power of Mojikara" to transform and manifest the power contained within Kanji characters. The versatile tool they use for writing is the "Shodo Phone," now being released.
The "Shodo Phone -MEMORIAL EDITION-" is an improved version based on the previously released DX edition. It utilizes new parts and new paint colors to make its design even closer to the prop used in the show, and it can still be smoothly opened with one hand and transformed into a brush, just like in the series! The power system has been changed from the original button batteries to a rechargeable battery that can be directly charged with a cable. Additionally, new functions such as a "vibration motor" and a "Mojikara button" have been added, allowing it to reproduce the action of writing characters and their reversal as seen in the show.
Regarding play modes, in addition to the original "Transformation Mode," five new modes have been added to enhance playability. These include "Summon Mode" to reproduce the Origami's giant transformation, "Combination Mode" to reproduce Origami combinations, "Mojikara Mode" to freely write various characters and activate abilities, "Daigoyou Mode" to reproduce the finishing move of the robot Samurai Haoh, and "Sealing Mode" to write characters of sealing power. Each mode can emit corresponding sound effects, and it can also play three BGM tracks, including the theme song "Samurai Sentai Shinkenger (TV ver.)"!
