Anthony Mackie's highly anticipated "Captain America: Brave New World" officially rolled out in theaters worldwide last week, and its opening box office numbers are in. The film reportedly grossed an estimated $88.5 million over its three-day North American opening weekend.

The film's opening coincided with the Washington's Birthday holiday weekend in the U.S., which extends through Monday. Industry analysts project its total domestic haul for the four-day holiday frame to exceed $100 million. This figure would surpass the $65.05 million opening of "Captain America: The First Avenger" and even top the $95.02 million debut of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

"Brave New World's" strong North American debut also positions it as the fourth-highest-grossing Washington's Birthday weekend opener in Marvel Universe history. It trails only "Black Panther" ($242 million), "Deadpool" ($152 million), and "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania" ($120 million).

Internationally, "Brave New World" collected an impressive $92.4 million in its opening frame, once again outperforming "The Winter Soldier," which earned $75.2 million overseas. Combined with its domestic gross, the film's estimated global opening weekend total stands at $192 million.
