Japanese high-end model manufacturer CCP JAPAN's popular series "Artistic Monsters Collection" (AMC), known for its unique three-dimensional renditions of tokusatsu characters, will once again release two new products based on the movie "Godzilla vs. Hedorah"—the "Hedorah Aquatic Form Nightmare Ver." and the "Hedorah Land Quadrupedal Form Nightmare Ver." soft vinyl figures. The suggested retail prices are 17,600 and 26,400 JPY respectively, with releases scheduled for June and July 2025.
Hedorah, who appeared in the 1971 film "Godzilla vs. Hedorah" (ゴジラ対ヘドラ), was originally a mineral from space that transformed into a pollution monster after absorbing excessive harmful waste discharged from factories. Although depicted as a black, foul-smelling waste monster in the film, various colorful Hedorah soft vinyl figures were released after the movie's premiere to cater to overseas toy sales and product cost-profit considerations. Fans of soft vinyl toys are surely familiar with the diverse and vibrant Hedorah figures!
This time, after a decade, the Aquatic Form, Hedorah's initial stage, is being re-released, with a dynamic pose that vividly captures it swimming in water! Following multiple re-releases, the Quadrupedal Form Hedorah will also make a reappearance in an upgraded new version. The eyes have overcome previous structural limitations, adopting "doll eye" (ドールアイ) technology for the first time, making the degree of eye opening and the protruding eyeball shape even more lifelike! The "Nightmare" color scheme used this time features black soft vinyl sprayed with purplish-red sections and accented with golden yellow details, conveying Hedorah's sense of lurking in the sea, poised to strike, and giving the overall figure a high-quality feel distinct from previous versions!
