While many players once thought the hero shooter genre had stagnated following the release of "Overwatch 2," the recent success of "Marvel Rivals" has completely shifted that perception, even sparking DC's interest in launching a competing title.

During a recent DC Studios event, CEO James Gunn expressed a strong desire to develop a similar video game. His aim is to challenge "Marvel Rivals" and carve out a significant presence for DC in the hero shooter market.
Gunn believes that developing a DC-based competitor is "entirely possible." While no concrete plans are currently underway, he remains open to the idea and has voiced a strong desire for such a project. He suggested that if a game like this could successfully launch in the coming years, it would offer players another excellent hero shooter experience.

Beyond his interest in hero shooters, James Gunn and Peter Safran also revealed that they are collaborating with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE) studios like Rocksteady Studios and NetherRealm Studios. Their plan is to develop new DC video games that will be integrated into Gunn's overarching DC Universe, making them a shared part of the cinematic, television, and animation continuity.
