Released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., the "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS" series, which combines metallic paint finishes and die-cast frames, announced the latest product from the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM," the "Sword Impulse Gundam SpecII," slated for release in August 2025.
The ZGMF-56E2 Impulse Gundam SpecII is a new mobile suit secretly recovered by the Eternal after being severely damaged in the previous great war, then repaired and improved by Actaeon Industries using the latest technology. After replacing its energy systems with new batteries, the VPS armor's activated color became deeper, and it can also be wirelessly charged via the Hyper Duetrion Beam Supply System emitted by the Destiny Gundam SpecII. The rest of its armaments remain largely unchanged, still capable of equipping Force, Sword, and Blast type backpacks, and can even mount the massive external equipment "Tactical Striker M.E.T.E.O.R."
The "METAL ROBOT SPIRITS Sword Impulse Gundam SpecII" is based on the previously released Force Impulse Gundam, with the main body design remaining largely the same. It features a refined and stylish armor design, with some movable frame parts made of die-cast metal, providing flexible articulation and a satisfyingly weighty feel. The paint scheme has been changed to a rich, deep red and black to recreate the enhanced VPS armor, with original model markings printed in various locations.
Armaments include the newly produced "Sword Silhouette" pack. The two characteristic weapons mounted on the backpack, the "Excalibur" Laser Anti-Ship Sword and the "Flash-Edge" Beam Boomerang, can both be detached and used with beam effect parts. The anti-ship swords can also be connected to form a twin-bladed giant sword mode. Handheld armaments also include the Mobile Shield, two Folding Razor Anti-Armor Knives, and the newly added Prototype 35-Type Modified Railgun from the theatrical version.
