Renowned poster design and toy company MONDO will launch its first product based on Mattel's highly acclaimed 90s toy series, Street Sharks—the "Ripster" soft vinyl figure! The suggested retail price is USD 150, and pre-orders will open on March 4th at noon CT on the official MONDO Shop website, with an estimated release in December 2025!
Street Sharks was an animated series aired from 1994 to 1997, introduced by TTV in 1996. It tells the story of four shark brothers, transformed in a laboratory, who use their respective shark powers to fight crime after escaping. Street Sharks is considered a toy line inspired by Playmates Toys' Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series and is undoubtedly a cherished childhood memory for many toy collectors. It remains a highly sought-after item in the secondary toy market today!
Following Mattel's announcement last year about the powerful return of the Street Sharks series, they are now joining MONDO's soft vinyl series! The first product, of course, is the team leader—Ripster! This Ripster soft vinyl figure stands approximately 10 inches tall, with concept art by renowned toy designer and artist James Groman, who interprets the original design with an even more exaggerated approach. The veiny muscle lines on his body look as if they're about to burst at any moment, and the bloodshot eyes, yellowed teeth in his gaping maw, and rough tongue all appear far more ferocious than the original toy!
The paint application faithfully reproduces the somewhat rough texture of Ripster's skin, and the various pink scars scattered across his body reveal him to be a battle-hardened tough guy! Accessories include an interchangeable open-mouth expression, a bent parking meter with shark teeth embedded in it, and a shark fin model emerging from the asphalt, allowing you to recreate his iconic scene of appearing from the ground in the show! From the main figure to the accessories, every detail is meticulously crafted. Toy enthusiasts who love this must pay attention to the pre-order opening time and not miss this excellent opportunity to own a magnificent Street Sharks collectible!
