Adrien Brody, who was nominated for Best Actor at the 97th Academy Awards for "The Brutalist," triumphantly took home the award last night. The win marks the second Best Actor Oscar of his career, following his victory for "The Pianist." But beyond his second win, Brody's exceptionally long acceptance speech also became one of the night's biggest highlights.
Brody's speech clocked in at a staggering 5 minutes and 40 seconds. The previous record holder for the longest Oscar speech, according to Guinness World Records, was Greer Garson, whose 1943 Best Actress acceptance speech ran for 5 minutes and 30 seconds. This makes Brody the new official record holder. However, some historians contest the record, arguing that the available audio of Garson's speech is incomplete and that her full speech may have actually been closer to 7 minutes. What is certain, however, is that Brody's speech was the longest of the evening. Ironically, he began his time on stage by promising to keep it brief and asking the orchestra not to play him off.

Mikey Madison, who was crowned Best Actress for her role in "Anora," was another major focus of the night. Her win was a major upset, as many had predicted Demi Moore would take home the award for her critically acclaimed performance in "The Substance." Instead, the 25-year-old Madison came out on top. Now an Oscar winner, Madison has become one of Hollywood's most sought-after new talents. Deadline recently reported that she is already in talks for leading roles in multiple films from A-list, auteur-driven directors, as Madison is reportedly eager to collaborate with exceptional creators.
