The 1/100 scale Gundam plastic model kit series 'MG (Master Grade)', released by BANDAI SPIRITS HOBBY Division in Japan, known for its excellent part separation, internal frame structure, and extensive articulation, has announced the latest product from 'Mobile Suit Gundam F90', the 'MG 1/100 F80 GUNRAID', scheduled for release in June 2025. This product will be exclusively sold on BANDAI's official online store, PREMIUM BANDAI.
The F80 GUNRAID is a prototype mobile suit developed by the Strategic Naval Research Institute (S.N.R.I.) as part of the 'FORMULA Project' to miniaturize mobile suits, specifically for the full mass production of the 'F90-01 Gundam F90'. This unit was redesigned based on the F70 Guncannon and can carry standard equipment such as beam sabers, beam rifles, shields, and hyper bazookas. Its backpack can also optionally mount armaments like cannons on both sides. Furthermore, it is compatible with the A-Z 'Mission Pack' external equipment, a characteristic feature of the F90 series, boasting excellent performance and versatility.
The 'MG 1/100 F80 GUNRAID' kit thoroughly recreates the F80's unique exterior design using new parts, featuring intricate detailing, color separation, and part division, just like the previously released F90. The blade-shaped antennas on both sides of the head are equipped with movable axes at their bases, which helps reduce interference with various poses and backpack armaments.
For armaments, it includes a short-barreled beam rifle, beam bazooka, beam saber, and shield. The backpack's side sections can either store beam saber hilts or have the right side replaced with a '3-barrel machine cannon'. Various points on the mobile suit also feature attachment hardpoints of the same specifications as the F90, allowing for compatibility with the separately sold 'Mission Pack' series models for equipment changes.
