Released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collector's toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Company, the 'S.H.Figuarts (Shinkocchou Seihou)' series, which sculpts from the skeletal structure to give tokusatsu heroes their original cool appearance and natural articulation, has unveiled a developing prototype of its latest work from 'Ultraman Tiga', the 'Ultraman Tiga Sky Type'. Product planning is currently underway, with the release date yet to be determined.
In its lore, Ultraman Tiga is an ancient 'Giant of Light' who protected Earth 30 million years ago. After defeating the Dark Demon God, his body transformed into a stone statue, slumbering in a pyramid deep in the mountains. 30 million years later, he merged with GUTS member Daigo Madoka to once again confront the Dark Evil God Gatanothor, who sought to destroy civilization. This work was the first to introduce the concept of form changes, allowing Tiga to switch between the Multi Type, which balances power and speed; the Sky Type, specialized in speed and technique; and the Power Type, specialized in strength and endurance.
Following the Multi Type and Power Type released years ago, TAMASHII is finally set to launch the third form, the 'Sky Type'. From the prototype currently on display, it can be seen that the overall sculpt and articulation design are fundamentally the same as the previous two versions, with the difference being the use of new paintwork to recreate the Sky Type's blue lines.
