Today, Japanese toy company TAKARA TOMY officially announced its Japan-original new "Transformers" series project, "Transformers: Wild King" (tentative title). A short-form anime is scheduled to begin airing on TAKARA TOMY's official YouTube channel starting March 26, 2025, with a series of toy products also slated for sequential release from late April 2025.
"Transformers: Wild King" is a completely new work, produced by Japan for the first time in ten years, primarily targeting preschool children. It will adopt a short-form anime format and feature numerous animal and dinosaur-themed Transformers.
The story follows protagonist Optimus Prime, who, along with his reconciled partner Megatron, arrives on the unknown planet "Elementros." This planet is home to Energy Beast Transformers that harbor the five major "Elemental Energies": Fire, Water, Earth, Nature, and Lightning. Upon arrival, Optimus Prime first encounters "Lightlong," a giraffe-type Transformer possessing the Lightning element. Their bond awakens the ability of transformation and combination, allowing the animals to transform into various armaments and combine with Optimus Prime. Meanwhile, Megatron also tames ferocious dinosaurs and gains the same transformation and combination ability. What fate awaits them next?
Regarding the toys, TAKARA TOMY has also unveiled the first wave of 8 product sets, including 6 characters such as Optimus Prime and Megatron, along with two bundled product sets. Optimus Prime and Megatron can transform from robot mode into their familiar truck cab and tank modes, respectively. The newly introduced animal and dinosaur Energy Beasts can transform into three modes: robot, beast, and armament, and can combine with Optimus Prime and Megatron. Additionally, the combined forms of Optimus Prime and Megatron with the giraffe, elephant, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and Triceratops have been revealed in advance.
