BANDAI CANDY, the Shokugan division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from its popular assembly model Shokugan series, 'SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT,' featuring 'Goldran' from the Brave Series anime 'The Brave of Gold,' slated for release in July 2025.
In the series, the protagonist, Gold Swordsman Dran, is a polite Brave Robot capable of transforming into a sports car. He can summon the Gold Dragon and perform 'Gold Combination' with it to become the even larger Goldran, wielding the Japanese sword weapon 'Super Dragon Fang Sword' to execute his finishing move, the 'One-Strike Severing Slash.' Later, after new allies 'Gold Ninja Kuukage' and 'Gold General Leon' awaken, he can further combine with them into his strongest form, Ultimate Goldran.
The 'SMP Goldran' product includes two units: Gold Swordsman Dran and the Gold Dragon. Upon assembly, Gold Swordsman Dran stands approximately 7 cm tall. Its detailed color separation is reproduced using molded part colors and stickers, and it features flexible articulated joints, allowing for dynamic poses while equipped with the 'Dragon Fang Sword.' It can also transform to recreate its sports car mode.
The Gold Dragon, on the other hand, is more than twice the size of Dran. Its entire golden armor is rendered with a bright, glossy gold molded part color, and parts other than the articulated sections feature hidden gate marks, hinting at the possibility of a future plated limited edition.
The overall transformation mechanism largely recreates the anime's settings and the DX toy's design, reproducing the chest armor unfolding to embed Dran's main body and the tail transforming into the arms. However, to achieve high-degree articulation, parts of the upper body, such as the arms, need to be detached and reassembled.
Once combined, Goldran stands approximately 15 cm tall. With its pull-out shoulder joints and multi-axis articulated forearms, it can be posed dynamically wielding the 'Super Dragon Fang Sword' with both hands to perform its finishing move, the 'One-Strike Severing Slash.' The two cannons on its legs can also be raised.
Additionally, the accessories include interchangeable head and hand parts that prioritize aesthetics, allowing for a more natural and heroic head-to-body proportion. However, when viewed from above, there is no armor covering the area around the head, and the shoulder joints are fully exposed, which is a slight drawback given the emphasis on aesthetic parts.
