Rumors of a new "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" film have persisted since the ninth installment, "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," premiered on Netflix three years ago. Last February, reports even surfaced detailing the plot outline for a tenth film, but no concrete plans ever materialized. Now, a year later, Deadline reports that before any tenth film can move forward, the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" franchise must first resolve its impending rights transfer.

The "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" series is notorious for its constantly shifting ownership, with Verve currently holding the rights since 2017. Sources indicate that A24, Lionsgate (which previously distributed "Texas Chainsaw 3D"), and other studios are actively bidding with Verve for the authorization to develop new projects. Even JT Mollner, director of last year's critically acclaimed horror film "Strange Darling," is reportedly very interested in taking on a reboot.
This potential reboot has already captured the attention of a major star. Texas native Glen Powell is reportedly keen to collaborate with Mollner on a new "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" project and would be eager to read Mollner's script if it materializes.
