Previously confirmed cast members include John Lithgow as the new Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Professor Severus Snape, and Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall.

The "Harry Potter" series is helmed by showrunner Francesca Gardiner, a co-writer on "His Dark Materials." Mark Mylod ("The Menu") is set to direct, reuniting him with McTeer, who also starred in the film. The show plans to adapt one book per season for a total of seven seasons, with the first slated to premiere next year.
