The fifth installment of "Avengers," which the article refers to as "Doomsday," dropped a major surprise late last night, unveiling a substantial roster of cast members and igniting widespread discussion. However, the conversation wasn't just about the actors included, but also the notable absences. Characters like Hawkeye, Deadpool, Hulk, Daredevil, She-Hulk, Wolverine, Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, and Moon Knight were not among those listed. Fans shouldn't despair too soon, though, as Marvel Studios has already indicated that this is merely the initial wave of announcements, with further casting news expected.

However, some notable omissions from this initial list might indeed be genuine absences. Veteran entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider provided further insights on his blog, "The InSneider." He reported that Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord, was absent from this wave of casting due to scheduling conflicts with the second season of "The Terminal List," making his participation in "Avengers 5" (or "Doomsday") impossible. Unless Pratt can unexpectedly carve out some time, a cameo appearance might be his only option.

Tom Holland's absence as Spider-Man, however, is reportedly tied to the narrative. His upcoming "Spider-Man 4" is said to be set concurrently with "Avengers 5," making his involvement in the latter unfeasible. Sneider also noted hearing whispers that the primary antagonist for "Spider-Man 4" could be Chameleon; however, given the character's recent appearance in Sony's "Kraven the Hunter," Marvel may opt for a different name or approach.

Finally, Sneider also offered a brief update on the "Blade" reboot. Earlier this month, World of Reel reported that after a series of creative changes, Marvel has reportedly approached "John Wick" franchise director Chad Stahelski to helm the project. Sneider further added that before engaging Stahelski, "No Time to Die" director Cary Fukunaga (pictured above) was among Marvel's considerations. However, Fukunaga's history of significant creative clashes with studios ultimately led Marvel to seek a director with a more collaborative track record.
