After months of speculation and rumored casting choices, the highly anticipated HBO series "Harry Potter" has finally unveiled its first wave of cast members. The initial roster features Hogwarts faculty and staff, with many of these names having previously surfaced in media reports. This includes Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Paapa Essiedu as Professor Severus Snape, and Janet McTeer as Professor Minerva McGonagall.
Meanwhile, John Lithgow, cast as the new Headmaster Albus Dumbledore, had already personally confirmed his involvement during a recent interview.

New additions to this announcement include Luke Thallon as Professor Quirinus Quirrell and Paul Whitehouse as caretaker Argus Filch, whose castings had not been widely reported by mainstream media prior to this reveal.
The "Harry Potter" series is showrun by Francesca Gardiner, co-writer of "His Dark Materials." Mark Mylod, director of "The Menu," is also attached to direct. Notably, Janet McTeer, who plays Professor McGonagall, was also a cast member in "The Menu." The series plans to adapt one book per season, totaling seven seasons, with the first season slated to premiere next year.
