Action maestro Michael Bay, who stepped down from directing the "Transformers" film series and hadn't helmed another adaptation since, appears to have finally found his next suitable IP. Deadline exclusively reported today that Universal Pictures is developing a live-action film based on SEGA's classic racing video game "Out Run," with Bay already tapped to direct. Plot details for the movie are currently being kept under wraps.

In addition to directing, Michael Bay will also produce the film through Platinum Dunes, the production company he co-founded. Jayson Rothwell, known for writing the Netflix action film "Polar," is penning the screenplay. Furthermore, Hollywood's rising star and "It Girl" Sydney Sweeney is confirmed to serve as a producer and is highly likely to star in the film. While actors often wait for script development to reach a satisfactory stage before officially committing to a role, Sweeney is currently only attached as a producer.
