German director Edward Berger has garnered significant attention in recent years, earning multiple Oscar nominations for his critically acclaimed 2022 remake of "All Quiet on the Western Front" and "Conclave." His rising profile has naturally led to numerous collaboration offers, including one from Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt.
Previously, there were reports that Pitt was interested in having Berger direct the fourth installment of the "Ocean's Eleven" franchise. However, those discussions seemingly didn't materialize. Despite that, the two are now set to collaborate on a different project.

According to an exclusive report from Deadline today, A24 has acquired the film rights to Australian author Tim Winton's 1994 novel "The Riders." Pitt is confirmed to star, with Berger set to direct. David Kajganich, who previously collaborated with Berger on the series "The Terror," will pen the screenplay.
Winton's "The Riders" follows protagonist Fred Scully, who, after two years of traveling across Europe, settles in Ireland with his wife Jennifer and daughter Billie. At Jennifer's spontaneous suggestion, they purchase an ancient farmhouse nestled in the shadow of a castle. Scully spends weeks renovating the farmhouse alone while Jennifer returns to Australia to liquidate their assets. However, when Scully arrives at the airport to greet Jennifer and their seven-year-old daughter Billie, only Billie appears. Jennifer has vanished without a trace, sending the father and daughter's lives spiraling into chaos.
