Hollywood horror powerhouse Blumhouse Productions made a flurry of announcements today, revealing a slate of new projects. The studio is not only taking over the "Saw" franchise and developing a sequel to "Ma," but is also preparing a live-action film adaptation of the popular survival horror video game "Phasmophobia." Blumhouse unveiled the plans at Hollywood's inaugural Horror Business Summit, confirming the film is currently in development.

"Phasmophobia" first launched in 2020, developed and published by UK independent game studio Kinetic Games. The title has since sold over 23 million units worldwide. The upcoming film adaptation will be a collaborative effort between Blumhouse, Atomic Monster (the production company co-founded by "Aquaman" director James Wan), and Kinetic Games Limited. As the project is in its very early stages, a director, screenwriter, and main cast have not yet been finalized, nor has a release date been set.
