Want to See the President Surprised? LIBATAPE Pharmaceutical's Official X (Twitter) Posted a Band-Aid Photo Just to Get a Reaction!

Social media has become a go-to for many companies and government agencies to share information people might find interesting or need to know. To connect better with the public, some ditch the formal, corporate speak and opt for more casual, even "shitpost"-style content to grab attention. Think of the viral social media manager for "Nantou Christian Hospital" in Taiwan. Japan also has plenty of companies that engage with netizens like friends, using playful posts to get noticed.

Just the other day (June 9), pharmaceutical manufacturer LIBATAPE Pharmaceutical (リバテープ製薬) dropped a photo of a band-aid on their official X (Twitter) account with a simple caption: "Just once, we want to see the president's surprised face because a totally ordinary band-aid photo suddenly went viral." It seemed like a completely random, irrelevant tweet, with no connection to their product info. But that's exactly the kind of "shitpost" from an official account that netizens live for! And sure enough, users jumped on board, retweeting and liking it like crazy.

By June 10, the post had racked up an incredible 12,000 retweets and 200,000 likes! The official account then followed up with an update: "【REPORT】The president's eyes are truly wide open." They even included a photo of company president Atsushi Hashizume looking genuinely shocked by the tweet's success.

Netizens, seeing the outcome, cheered with comments like "We won!", "YES!", and "The president is such a good sport LOL." Who knew a simple band-aid picture could spark such a massive reaction? It just goes to show, this kind of playful posting is way more entertaining than your typical corporate announcements!
