The latest installment in the Gundam franchise, *Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX*, is heating up as it heads into the second half of its season, with high-stakes action and a twisting plot that has fans buzzing.
But after the broadcast of Episode 10, "Blockade of Iomagnuso," on the night of June 11, the official X account dropped a bombshell. To celebrate hitting 380,000 followers, they posted a teaser for next week's episode featuring a silhouette in an all-too-familiar red uniform. The reveal sent the internet into a frenzy, with fans flooding social media with a hilarious mix of anger and excitement.
With the official account telling everyone to look forward to Episode 11, fans are convinced the owner of that iconic red uniform is set to make his grand return. And let's be real, there's no need to guess who that charismatic man is: the one and only "Red Comet," Char Aznable.
However, the return of this legendary figure was met with some unexpected roasts from fans. Comments flooded in, ranging from "What took you so long to come back?!" to "You better apologize to Sharian first!" Others couldn't help but laugh, posting, "Whoa, you actually wore it back."
One fan claimed that instead of feeling happy or moved, their only thought was: "The absolute nerve of this guy to show his face now!!!" Another joked that if Char struts in next week looking smug in his red uniform, Sharian has every right to beat him up for going MIA.
Of course, some fans playfully suggested it could be Johnny Ridden, Zeon's "Crimson Lightning," reminding everyone that Char isn't the only ace who rocks red.
Many long-time fans pointed out that this is a classic case of the "Surprise Char Theory." The theory goes that whenever the plot reaches a fever pitch, Char's appearance—whether it makes sense or not—will automatically get the audience hyped and focused on him. This magical ability to "make things interesting just by showing up" is once again proving his unshakable popularity.
Just think: after Episode 10, everyone was pumped for the epic Gundam showdown between "Machu and Nean." But then this guy shows up in his formal attire, acting like he's the main character. The audacity! Some fans quipped that no image better captures the essence of a "shameless comeback."
Over on Japanese social media, Char's "costume change" has become a prime source for memes. "So, was he just off picking up his old clothes all this time? Did he pack the helmet in his suitcase?" one user joked. Another snarked, "The thought of Char carefully preserving his military uniform for all these years is kind of hilarious lol."
One artist even sketched their vision of Char's dramatic return next week... as a magical girl? LOL.
