Juufuutei Raden, a member of the HoloLive group "hololive DEV_IS ReGLOSS," has carved out a unique niche since her debut with her distinctive "booze and cigarettes" persona and refined artistic sensibility. She frequently collaborates with art world figures and discusses art topics on her streams, truly pioneering an uncommon domain for VTubers.
Known for her eloquent discussions on all things art, Raden recently received a surprising invitation from Kyoto University to deliver a special lecture in their Media Culture Studies class. She even prepared custom lecture materials for all attending students and the public, much to the delight of her fans.
Juufuutei Raden herself posted about the experience, expressing how incredibly honored she was to have such an opportunity. She admitted to being super nervous at first, but gradually started to enjoy herself as she spoke! Her lecture primarily focused on VTuber identity and the ins and outs of her work, all drawn from her personal experiences!
She extended her heartfelt thanks to everyone for such a rare opportunity!!
Many attendees shared their thoughts on X, noting that despite her VTuber status, Juufuutei Raden shared a wealth of information as a special lecturer, offering valuable insights into VTuber work and culture.
One Raden fan even exclaimed, "I genuinely feel so glad I went to Kyoto University!" They confessed that they had no interest in art in high school, but it was "Raden's streams that introduced me to aesthetics and Western art classes." They quickly became hooked, and are now seriously considering majoring in aesthetics and art history, even aiming for a museum curator qualification. To have met her at this point in their life was incredibly fortunate, and they expressed immense gratitude.
Many Kyoto University students echoed the sentiment, saying they felt "so glad to be studying at Kyoto University" at that moment.
Even a doctoral student on X mentioned that they had just started auditing courses at Kyoto University's Faculty of Letters and were thrilled to find Juufuutei Raden as a lecturer. As a hololive DEV_IS fan, they were incredibly happy, and found her perspectives as a VTuber to be profoundly insightful and fascinating.
Another Kyoto University student who attended live remarked that they had only heard of the VTuber before, but listening to her lecture in person was "SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO interesting!" They immediately subscribed to her channel after the class.
It's clear that Juufuutei Raden is truly forging a path unlike any other VTuber. From securing art industry collaborations—even working with Taiwan's Tainan Art Museum in the past—to now becoming a university lecturer, her depth and capability showcase a level of professional performance rarely seen in the VTuber world.
