The robot-themed action figure series "ROBOT SPIRITS ver. A.N.I.M.E.", released by TAMASHII NATIONS, the collectors' toy division of Japan's BANDAI SPIRITS Co., Ltd., has announced the latest product from "Mobile Suit Z Gundam", "Asshimar", scheduled for release in November 2025.
The NRX-044 Asshimar is an aerial combat transformable Mobile Armor (MA) developed by the Earth Federation Forces' "Oakland Research Lab" between Universal Century 0083 and 0085. As one of the earliest developed models, the Asshimar, despite being considerably larger than Mobile Suits of the same period, utilizes magnetic coating technology in its joints to shorten its transformation time to 0.5 seconds. The unit also boasts heavy armor, high-performance thermonuclear jet engines, and high-firepower beam weaponry. Compared to most contemporary units that relied on Sub-Flight Systems (SFS) for flight, the Asshimar could achieve significant advantages in aerial combat on its own.
The latest release, "Asshimar", is the first product in the ROBOT SPIRITS ver. A.N.I.M.E. series to feature a transformation mechanism. Based on its in-show design, it boasts a substantial 16 cm height and a refined, thick, curved armor design. It can transform into Mobile Suit and Mobile Armor forms without needing to swap parts, as well as a takeoff stance where its legs bend in a reverse joint configuration.
In its Mobile Suit form, the Asshimar reveals detailed internal frame sculpting and features flexible articulated joints. Its head's mono-eye camera also has a multi-directional rotating mechanism, allowing for dynamic posing with its large beam rifle and various interchangeable hand parts. The Mobile Armor form, affectionately dubbed "Pumpkin" by viewers, includes an opening/closing mechanism for its top thrusters and detachable landing gear parts, allowing it to be displayed in aerial combat poses with its dedicated stand.
