Container Chaos: Nearly 3,000 Nintendo Switch 2 Consoles Swiped in Million-Dollar US Heist

With the official launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, scalping issues have sparked considerable debate in Japan. However, the international multi-language version, while slightly pricier, has been relatively easier to get your hands on, with some players even reporting effortless purchases at electronics stores in other countries.

But hold up! In Colorado, USA, a massive shipment of Switch 2 consoles was swiped mid-transit, with losses estimated at a staggering $1.4 million! Local police are now appealing for public tips, and this wild news has certainly left many netizens scratching their heads.

According to an official X (@ArapahoeSO) announcement from the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office in Colorado on June 18, the audacious theft was discovered on June 8 at 8:10 AM at a Love’s truck stop in Bennett Town.

The alarm was raised by a semi-truck driver who, during a pre-departure inspection, discovered the shipping container had been breached and a massive haul of Nintendo Switch 2 consoles had vanished. A quick inventory check revealed a whopping 2,810 units were gone, each priced at $499, bringing the total loss to over $1.4 million!

According to the driver, the shipment originated from Redmond, Washington – home to Nintendo of America's headquarters – and was bound for GameStop stores in Texas. However, he stressed that he was only told he was transporting "games and toys" and had no idea what the specific products were.

Of course, some netizens are already speculating about potential inside jobs. Given how hot the Switch 2 is right now, such a massive quantity going missing is highly unusual, and knowing official logistics operations like that isn't something your average Joe could pull off.

It's still unclear whether the crime actually took place in Bennett Town or another city along the route. Local police are continuing their investigation, and the culprits could be facing serious felony charges, including grand theft exceeding a million dollars and property damage.
