To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the "Neon Genesis Evangelion" series and threezero's 25th anniversary, Hong Kong toy manufacturer threezero is launching a new product under its "ROBO-DOU" (ロボ道) series, known for its high-fidelity, complex designs based on Japanese anime alloy mecha. The new item is the "Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition Test Type EVA-01 (Metallic Color)" articulated figure. The suggested retail price is yet to be announced, it will be limited to 1,500 units worldwide, and is expected to ship in Q3 2025!
This "Test Type EVA-01 (Metallic Color)" articulated figure stands approximately 25 cm tall. Based on the ROBO-DOU series' second release, the "EVA-01", it features a die-cast zinc alloy frame and exterior armor, with over 80% of the figure crafted from alloy materials, giving it a substantial and weighty feel! This version introduces new movable joints on the chest armor, allowing it to open outwards. The newly designed head sculpt is equipped with a movable jaw and LED light-up eyes, capable of depicting EVA-01's berserk state!
For this metallic color version, the purple sections of the body utilize a two-tone iridescent metallic paint, creating a gradient effect under light refraction. The orange and fluorescent green parts are treated with UV reactive paint, which emits a neon glow when illuminated by a UV light, presenting a visual effect distinctly different from previous versions! Accessories include long and short electromagnetic rifles, a high-particle vibration short sword, an entry plug, and multiple sets of interchangeable hands. The base is designed as a mobile launch pad, rendered in dark green, allowing collectors to recreate EVA-01's iconic launch scene!
