Avengers: Doomsday — Will X-23 Return? Dafne Keen "Swears" She Hasn't Been Notified

Marvel Studios is actively developing "Avengers: Doomsday," with rumors swirling about the return of many familiar faces, including major stars like Ryan Reynolds and Chris Evans reportedly eyed for roles.

However, one highly anticipated actress recently stated she remains unsure about her involvement in the superhero epic: Dafne Keen, who portrays X-23 in "Logan" and "Deadpool & Wolverine."

During a recent appearance at Canada's FAN EXPO, Keen spoke with ScreenRant and revealed she has no definitive news regarding her potential return.

When asked if she would appear in "Doomsday," she stated, "I actually genuinely don't know, I swear... As of this moment, I have no idea, I haven't heard anything at all." Her comments immediately sparked widespread discussion among fans.

Her statement, however, doesn't rule out her involvement entirely. Given the massive ensemble cast and the often unconventional production schedule of "Avengers: Doomsday," Keen might still have an opportunity to join during later stages or reshoots. Furthermore, considering she previously kept her return to "Deadpool & Wolverine" under wraps during interviews, it's possible her current silence is also due to strict Marvel secrecy.

From a narrative perspective, X-23's involvement in "Doomsday" seems logical. The ending of "Deadpool & Wolverine" saw Deadpool, Wolverine, and Laura (X-23) together, and Ryan Reynolds is all but confirmed to appear in "Doomsday." If the plot continues from the previous film, having all three characters appear together would not only be a natural progression but also add significant dramatic tension to the story.

Notably, "Doomsday" has maintained an exceptionally high level of secrecy, a stark contrast to the set photos often leaked from other MCU productions. This suggests that if X-23 is indeed set to return, Marvel will undoubtedly go to great lengths to preserve the surprise. Even if Keen doesn't join this installment, the upcoming "Avengers: Secret Wars" could still offer a place for her.

"Avengers: Doomsday," directed by the Russo Brothers, is slated for release on December 18, 2026.
