After appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Thanos and Hawkeye and later sharing the screen in "Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery," Josh Brolin and Jeremy Renner are reuniting for a third project, the upcoming survival thriller "A Speck in the Sea." This time, the pair will trade Infinity Stones and murder mysteries for a desperate fight for survival and a high-stakes ocean rescue.

"A Speck in the Sea" will be directed by Orlando von Einsiedel, whose credits include the Netflix documentary series "Heart of Invictus." Jeff Pope, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter behind "Stan & Ollie" and "Philomena," is writing the screenplay.

Based on a true story, the film stars Brolin as Johnny Aldridge, a Montauk lobster fisherman. One night in 2013, Johnny sails into the Atlantic Ocean with his best friend and fishing partner, Anthony Sosinski, played by Renner. While Anthony sleeps below deck, Johnny accidentally falls overboard. After waking to discover that Johnny is missing, Anthony launches a multi-state rescue operation. Meanwhile, stranded alone in the vast ocean, Johnny must draw on every survival skill he has to stay alive. The film does not yet have a release date, but international sales will launch at the American Film Market on November 10.
