Following "Superman" and preceding "Supergirl," the third DCU film, "Clayface," recently unveiled set photos that have ignited fervent fan discussion. Notably, details within the images appear to link to Matt Reeves' "The Batman," sparking anticipation among many viewers for a potential merger of the two franchises. 
"Clayface" is currently filming in Liverpool, UK, with numerous set photos already circulating on social media. The images offer a first look at Tom Rhys Harries as the titular Clayface, Matthew Hagen, and "The Handmaid's Tale" actor Max Minghella as a Gotham City detective.

The most striking detail from the set photos is the appearance of the motto "Sic Parvis Magna" (Greatness from small beginnings), which is famously the tagline for the Gotham City courthouse in Matt Reeves' "The Batman."
Despite "Clayface" being part of the main DCU canon and "The Batman" belonging to James Gunn's "Elseworlds" series, this shared detail is being interpreted as a potential link between the two projects.
However, rumor accounts have cautioned fans against over-interpreting the detail, suggesting it might simply be an Easter egg, as the phrase has also appeared in the "Batman: Arkham" video game series. 
Nevertheless, many fans continue to actively discuss on social media, hoping to see Robert Pattinson's "The Batman" merge with the James Gunn-led DCU universe. Gunn, however, has previously stated that the two franchises will remain separate.
Currently, DC has two "Batman" franchises in development: Pattinson is set to return for "The Batman 2" in 2027, while the DCU's "The Brave and the Bold" will feature a new actor as Batman.
"Clayface" is slated for release on September 11, 2026.
