"Jurassic World: Rebirth," the seventh installment in the "Jurassic" franchise, continued its summer box office run this year, pulling in a respectable $860 million globally. While this figure didn't match the previous three films' consecutive billion-dollar performances, the movie's significantly lower production budget and its status as a soft reboot with a new cast made this a solid achievement. It would come as no surprise if Universal Pictures decided to move forward with a sequel.

Recently, acclaimed entertainment journalist Daniel Richtman revealed in a paid post on his X account that development for a "Rebirth" sequel has quietly commenced. Scarlett Johansson is still slated to star in her role, though there's no word yet on whether other "Rebirth" cast members, such as Mahershala Ali and Jonathan Bailey, will return. Additionally, a scooper outlet claimed the sequel's release date is tentatively set for June 9, 2028, with Gareth Edwards also expected to return to direct.
