As Marvel fans will recall, before the Russo Brothers were brought back to helm the fifth "Avengers" film—which was then reportedly retitled "Avengers: Doomsday"—the project was previously slated to be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, director of "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings." However, Cretton later exited the project due to undisclosed reasons.
Despite missing out on the opportunity to direct the fifth installment, and with the Russo Brothers already confirmed to helm the sixth film, "Avengers: Secret Wars," Cretton's potential involvement with the franchise isn't necessarily over.

Renowned entertainment scooper MyTimeToShineHello recently claimed on X that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige plans to entrust "Avengers 7" to Cretton, provided his currently helmed "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" performs well. If Cretton officially takes on the seventh installment, it remains unclear whether the long-planned "Shang-Chi 2," which he was already slated to direct, would face further delays.
