Late last month, Deadline exclusively reported that Peter Berg, director of "Lone Survivor" (pictured left below), was confirmed to helm the live-action "Call of Duty" film, with "Sicario" screenwriter Taylor Sheridan attached to pen the script. Now, prominent entertainment journalist Daniel Richtman has reportedly revealed further details regarding the film's setting and potential casting.

Richtman recently reported on his Patreon page that the live-action "Call of Duty" is slated to begin production next year, with the story set in a modern-day battlefield, rather than the World War II, Cold War, or even dystopian future settings explored in the games. Furthermore, Richtman indicated that Berg intends to bring in frequent collaborators for the cast. Fans familiar with Berg's work know that Mark Wahlberg and Taylor Kitsch are recurring faces in his films, so their potential involvement would come as no surprise.
