Award-winning director Woody Allen's sensational 1990s sexual abuse allegations involving his adopted daughter, Dylan Farrow, ultimately did not result in charges or a conviction. However, the controversy resurfaced during the height of the #MeToo movement in 2017, leading to Allen's complete downfall in Hollywood. Many former collaborators distanced themselves, prompting him to shift his career to European cinema.

Nevertheless, Allen still has a few supporters in Hollywood, including Alec Baldwin, Scarlett Johansson, Javier Bardem and Penelope Cruz, and the recently deceased Diane Keaton, all of whom have publicly stated their belief in Allen's innocence.

Johansson, for instance, recently reiterated her unwavering stance on trusting Allen during an interview with "The Telegraph." She noted that it was difficult to say whether her position had impacted her career or relationships, as one could never truly know the ripple effects. However, she added that her mother always encouraged her to be herself, emphasizing the importance of integrity and standing firm in her convictions. Johansson also believed it was crucial to know when not to push back, clarifying that she didn't mean to silence oneself, but rather that sometimes the timing simply wasn't right, a lesson she understood more as she got older.
