The popular assembly model candy toy series 'SHOKUGAN MODELING PROJECT', released by BANDAI CANDY, the candy toy division of Japan's Bandai Co., Ltd., following the "3D Formation Time Robo" and "Delta Formation Time Shadow", has once again announced its latest product from the tokusatsu series Mirai Sentai Timeranger, the "V-REX Robo", slated for release in May 2026.
The V-REX is a giant robot utilized by the additional warrior "Time Fire" in the latter half of the series. It is not only equipped with fully autonomous artificial intelligence but is also a bio-machine with self-repairing capabilities. Its power and various armaments are exceptionally formidable, and it can transform from a dinosaur form into a robot form.
The "SMP V-REX Robo" is a non-powered assembly model redesigned based on the original DX toy sold back then. It is constructed using multiple molded color parts and stickers. While slightly smaller than the DX toy upon completion, it still boasts an impressive size of approximately 19 cm in height and 35 cm in length. It features about 35 points of articulation in areas such as the head, torso, fingers, knees, and feet. The dinosaur form can achieve more lifelike poses thanks to the head's sliding ball joint and the pull-out joints in each segment of the tail, addressing the lack of articulation in the DX toy.
The semi-automatic transformation mechanism used throughout the model is a significant homage to the DX toy's design. Unlike the original toy, which achieved voice-activated fully automatic transformation via an electric mechanism, this model incorporates a precise gear linkage mechanism within its body. In dinosaur form, rotating the shoulders and wrists will straighten the torso, transforming it into robot mode! Once transformed, the right arm's weapon, the "Revolver Missile," allows individual warheads to be detached, and the left arm's weapon, the "Tyranno Punch," also features a separation mechanism to recreate its firing state.
This product can also be linked with the separately sold "Time Robo Alpha" to recreate its riding state. It also includes an oversized weapon, the "Chrono Saber," measuring approximately 13.5 cm in total length, and a mini figure of "Time Fire" approximately 13mm tall.
