Bandai Launches Mini "Home Electric Chair Game" from "Wednesday Downtown," Letting You Recreate the Show's Classic Fun at Home!

Readers who follow Japanese variety shows may have heard of or watched the program 'Wednesday Downtown,' hosted by the comedy duo 'DOWN TOWN' (Hitoshi Matsumoto and Masatoshi Hamada). Focusing on pranks and experiments, the show observes how entertainers react in various situations.

Recently, Bandai Japan announced that the human psychological warfare game 'Electric Chair Game,' born from a segment of 'Wednesday Downtown,' will be produced as a mini 'Home Electric Chair Game.' Just like on the show, it features a built-in electric shock mechanism that will truly 'give you a jolt,' along with LED lights indicating the number of remaining chairs, allowing you to experience the thrilling tension of the Electric Chair Game anytime, anywhere!

Speaking of 'Wednesday Downtown's' 'Electric Chair Game,' the gameplay involves two players, chatting and engaging in psychological warfare, trying to guess which chair has been set with an electric current. It has always been a very popular game on the show, and this game mode has been emulated by many.

Of course, the home version won't actually shock your backside. However, this product still features a built-in electric shock mechanism that will 'tingle' your hand, LED lights displaying the number of remaining chairs, and sound effects to liven up the atmosphere. Whether at the office, school, or home, you can perfectly recreate the tension and excitement of the Electric Chair Game.

The gameplay is simple, designed for two players:

Player 1 must choose one of the 12 chairs to set as the 'shock' chair.

※ The selected chair will enter 'selection mode,' and the front of that chair will light up.

Once Player 1 has confirmed the 'shocking chair,' they press the central 'Shock Setting Button' to end the setup round. Afterwards, Player 2 guesses which chair has been set to 'shock,' and chooses a chair they believe is safe from the remaining ones to press.

※ The selected chair will enter 'selection mode,' and the front will light up.

If Player 2 chooses a 'scoring chair,' they place their hand into the 'Shock Hole' to end their turn. Then, they await the fated 'Shock Execution Time,' when Player 1 presses the central electric shock button to see if the shock is successfully delivered.

After the sales announcement was made following the show's broadcast, fans went wild: 'Huh? Not a prank fake news? Really selling? I want it!' 'New party game overlord confirmed! Just thinking about it makes me laugh so hard,' 'The product development capability is truly terrifying,' 'Bringing a variety show's penalty game into the home, this idea is absolutely insane, I love it (lol).'

Comments filled with surprise and anticipation poured in. With this, it'll be hard for any gathering not to be lively.

However, the price is not cheap, at 12,980 JPY per unit. Pre-orders are already open on Bandai Japan's PB website, with shipping scheduled for October.

If that's too long to wait, a prize version is also being released. Starting January 27th, individual 'electric chairs' that actually conduct electricity will be progressively launched, complete with number stickers from 1 to 12. Once all 12 chairs are collected, the Electric Chair Game is complete!

For friends who want to have an electric chair showdown at home or with friends, you might want to consider checking it out XD.
