Bandai's Gashapon division has teamed up with renowned Japanese camera brand Canon to release the "Canon Miniature Camera Collection" capsule toys. Each capsule is priced at 500 JPY and is scheduled for release in the third week of February 2026!
Canon Inc., established in 1937, evolved from Seiki Kogaku Kenkyusho (Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory), which produced Japan's first 35mm focal-plane-shutter camera, the Kwanon, in 1934. Beyond its renowned cameras and lenses, Canon also manufactures a diverse range of products including printers, scanners, copiers, medical imaging equipment, and semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The new "Canon Miniature Camera Collection" capsule toys transform classic Canon film and digital cameras, along with their iconic lenses, into highly detailed miniature models. The collection features a total of five variations: the IV Sb (4Sb) model, released in December 1952 as the world's first camera with built-in flash synchronization, paired with a Serenar 50mm F1.8 I lens; the 7S model, a 35mm rangefinder camera released in April 1965, paired with a CANON 50mm F0.95 lens; the F-1, a top-tier 35mm SLR film camera introduced in March 1971, paired with an FD55mm F1.2 S.S.C. ASPHERICAL lens; the EOS 5D Mark II, a digital SLR camera released in November 2008, paired with an EF24-70mm F2.8L USM lens; and the EOS R1, the first flagship model of the "EOS R System" released in 2024, equipped with a white RF70-200mm F2.8 L IS USM Z lens.
With simple assembly, these approximately 4cm wide models meticulously recreate the classic body shapes with intricate sculpting, and all the lenses are detachable.
