DECOCTION MODELS "Mega Man X Fourth Armor" Announced for Release, Developing Prototype First Revealed!

Japanese model manufacturer Kotobukiya (KOTOBUKIYA) has announced the commercialization of a new product, "X Fourth Armor," from the classic video game "Mega Man X," as part of its alloy articulated finished model series, "DECOCTION MODELS." The unpainted developing prototype has been unveiled for the first time.

The protagonist X's enhanced armor, the Fourth Armor, first appeared in "Mega Man X4." Players had to control X to four different maps to find capsules left by Dr. Light, gradually recovering the four armor parts: head, body, arms, and legs. These parts respectively offered functions such as special weapons requiring no energy, the ability to unleash the powerful "Nova Strike," enhanced charge shots, the use of charged special weapons, and the ability to hover or air-dash, significantly boosting X's combat capabilities. This armor also became available from the start in the sequel "Mega Man X5," but as it was a replica analyzed and restored by Alia, its various performances were not as complete as the original.

From the currently revealed developing prototype of the "DECOCTION MODELS X Fourth Armor," it can be seen that the overall size is significantly larger compared to Kotobukiya's "Mega Man X" series plastic model kits. The design has been extensively modified based on the original silhouette, incorporating high-density detailed styling with a modern aesthetic, such as split armor, panel lines, and multi-layered armor, with sharp angles sculpted into each armor part. Furthermore, the product is expected to include multiple original model mechanisms, which, if all goes well, will also include the chest, shoulder, and other armor deployment mechanisms shown in the design sketches.
