The 'MODEROID' series of plastic model kits, launched by Japan's MECHA SMILE brand, has announced a new product from the classic anime "Makū Senki," which celebrates its 30th anniversary: the "Super Makū Senki Gaioh," slated for release in November 2026.
Although the TV anime "Makū Senki," broadcast in 1994, shared the same project and Japanese mythology theme as the live-action film "Yamato Takeru", released in the same year, the two works had completely different worldviews and plot descriptions.
The anime's story depicts a 25th century where some Earthlings, using space migration ships, arrived at a new land, "Izumo Star," coexisting with the native Izumo people and establishing peaceful villages. However, 12 years later, the Tsukuyomi Army, aiming to revive Orochi and destroy the entire universe, attacked the villages. The protagonist, Yamato Takeru, accidentally discovered the Makū Senki Susanoo, sealed away in a cave amidst the chaos. Although he piloted Susanoo to repel the Tsukuyomi Army, he was driven out of the village due to Susanoo's temporary rampage. To thwart Tsukuyomi's ambitions, Yamato Takeru embarked on a journey with Susanoo to collect the Three Sacred Treasures and the Star Souls.
This product features the enhanced form "Super Makū Senki Gaioh," which is a combination of "Makū Senki Gaioh Final Stage" and the divine bird "Heavenly White Bird." The model kit utilizes multiple molded color parts and some pre-painted parts to recreate both machines, allowing for a close-to-anime appearance even with a straight build.
The "Makū Senki Gaioh Final Stage" stands approximately 17.5 cm tall upon completion. It faithfully recreates the bone-like exterior armor and the white mesh structure of the torso. The head mask part is detachable, and each joint features flexible articulation. It can be equipped with its weapon, the "Trident," to pose dynamic battle stances.
The divine bird "Heavenly White Bird" measures approximately 20.5 cm in length. It is primarily constructed with red molded parts, while the golden edges of some parts require self-painting to recreate. A white molded version is also included to reproduce its debut color scheme from the show. By replacing certain parts, the Heavenly White Bird can combine with Gaioh Final Stage to form "Super Makū Senki Gaioh." Furthermore, original model-specific combination mechanism parts are included, allowing it to link with "Makū Senki Susanoo Second Stage" to form an original combined form.
