Produced by Japan's PLEX Company and distributed by X-PLUS Company, the soft vinyl figure series themed around Toho's special effects monsters, "Toho 30cm Series," has announced the latest product from the 1998 film "Godzilla," "Godzilla (1998)," scheduled for release in May 2026.
The "Godzilla" that appeared in TriStar Pictures' remake film "Godzilla" was re-envisioned as a giant lizard monster, approximately 90 meters long, mutated from a marine iguana after encountering nuclear experiments. This was unlike the Japanese Toho version of Godzilla, which breathes atomic heat rays and is impervious to weapons, embodying the image of the King of Monsters. However, this Godzilla was too realistic, agile, and fond of eating fish, completely lacking the ability to breathe heat rays, and died directly after being hit by a few missiles. Subsequently, in the Japanese Toho film "Godzilla: Final Wars," a very similar "Strong-Footed Monster" appeared and was specifically renamed "Zilla" for distinction, but was instantly killed by the original Godzilla in the movie.
The "Toho 30cm Series Godzilla (1998)" is produced in a large size, approximately 20 cm tall and 43 cm long, thoroughly recreating Godzilla's dynamic, slender body and T-Rex-like walking posture. Its entire body is sculpted with skin resembling that of a reptile, and hook-like dorsal fins, among other details. The brown tones on its abdomen and other areas, along with extremely realistic scale patterns, are expressed through color painting. When viewed from below, it further evokes the agile posture of the creature traversing New York in the film.
This product also simultaneously releases a limited edition, sold exclusively at "Shonen RIC," which includes a "Godzilla Egg" approximately 13.5 cm tall for display together.
