MaxFactory, a Japanese toy company, is releasing a new product from its highly popular and diverse assembly model brand "PLAMAX." Based on the manga version of 《Ghost in the Shell》, they are launching the latest item: "PLAMAX minimum factory MF-94 Motoko Kusanagi with Tachikoma Optical Camouflage Ver." 1/20 scale assembly model! The suggested retail price is 6,800 JPY, and it is scheduled for release in October 2026.
The story of 《GHOST IN THE SHELL》 is set in the highly advanced near-future of 2029, where a mysterious hacker known as "The Puppet Master (人形使い)" rises, initiating international terrorist acts and hacking into the Japanese Foreign Minister's interpreter cyborg. Major Motoko Kusanagi, whose body is extensively cybernetically enhanced, leads Public Security Section 9 in the investigation.
The "PLAMAX minimum factory MF-94 Motoko Kusanagi with Tachikoma Optical Camouflage Ver." 1/20 scale assembly model uses clear plastic for its molding color, creating an effect reminiscent of optical camouflage. Combining elements from the manga version of 《Ghost in the Shell》 cover illustrations and in-story appearances, Motoko Kusanagi and the Tachikoma are rendered into a palm-sized model, approximately 8 cm tall after assembly. In addition to the distinctive Tachikoma, it includes a fixed-pose Motoko Kusanagi figure that can sit on the Tachikoma, as well as an articulated Motoko Kusanagi figure that can be freely posed and enjoyed!
