KOTOBUKIYA, the popular Japanese model manufacturer, has announced the latest product in its popular 'Frame Arms Girl' mecha musume plastic model series, 'Shingen Kai,' slated for release in September 2026.
Shingen was the first mecha designed by Kunio Okawara, the mechanical designer for the 'Gundam' series, for the 'Frame Arms' series. Its prototype is derived from 'Takeda Shingen,' a daimyo from Japan's Sengoku period. The exterior armor resembles Takeda's Akazonae (red armor), and the flag-like armor on both sides features a design paying homage to the Takeda family crest, the 'Takeda Hishi.' Its armaments include Sengoku-style Japanese swords and matchlock guns. The bishoujo-fied Frame Arms Girl Shingen was re-illustrated by illustrator Fumikane Shimada, capturing its distinctive features. This time, an enhanced version, 'Shingen Kai,' has been redesigned with a focus on certain aspects of its appearance.
'Frame Arms Girl Shingen Kai' is a modified version based on the previously released 'Shingen' kit. Not only have the molding colors and paint schemes of the body and face parts been adjusted, redesigning her into a brown-haired bishoujo with fair skin, but the armor also incorporates newly molded 'M.S.G Mechanical Supply 24 EX Armor G' to create entirely new enhanced armor. This makes the overall design more closely resemble a human figure wearing samurai armor, appearing lighter and more agile.
Other specifications are largely the same as the regular version. The body comes with five pre-painted face parts: 'Normal Face,' 'Smiling Face,' 'Shouting Face,' 'Masked Normal Face,' and 'Masked Shouting Face,' along with five pairs of PVC molded hands for replacement. The hair parts can be chosen between two styles: with or without cat ears. For the hip area, two styles are available: triangular armor or a movable loincloth. The chest parts feature independent movable axes to express a swaying effect.
By replacing certain parts of the body, it can be transformed into armed mode. The armor is composed of multiple molding colors such as red, white, and gold, and includes decals to reproduce the various family crest designs. The left and right flag-like wings connected to the backpack feature movable and deployable mechanisms. Weapons include two Japanese swords, one large and one small, 'Rai Kuninaga' and 'Hoshizukiyo Masamune,' as well as one long and one short 'Palm-Type Blunderbuss.'
