Bandai Japan has just unveiled its latest high-end collectible from the classic Toei tokusatsu series, "Ninja Sentai Kakuranger": the "Kakuremaru -MEMORIAL EDITION-"! This premium replica is slated for a September 2026 release.
Airing back in 1994, "Ninja Sentai Kakuranger" was the 18th installment in Toei's legendary Super Sentai franchise. The series featured a team of ninjas descended from a clan that battled and sealed away the monstrous Yokai army during Japan's Sengoku period. After 400 years of peace, the seal is broken, and the Yokai are unleashed upon the modern world. To combat this threat, the 24th leader of the clan, Tsuruhime, assembles the descendants of the original warriors—Sasuke, Saizo, Seikai, and Jiraiya—to form the new Ninja Sentai Kakuranger and seal the Yokai once more.
The new "Kakuremaru -MEMORIAL EDITION-" brings the team's signature ninja sword to life in a massive 70cm (approx. 27.5 inches) scale, a stunning 150% increase in size compared to the original DX toy. The set includes the Kakuremaru itself and its scabbard, and it also features swappable parts for the pommel, allowing you to display the unique crest of any of the five core Kakurangers. The replica boasts a premium finish with intricate paint applications and detailed parts, perfectly recreating the "Ninja Sentai" kanji on the blade and the cast-metal texture of the golden tsuba (handguard).
Of course, the MEMORIAL EDITION is packed with electronic light and sound features. A magnetic sensor is triggered when drawing or sheathing the blade, activating realistic metallic sound effects for that perfect dramatic moment. An internal motion sensor and vibration motor bring the action to life; swinging the Kakuremaru unleashes various slashing sounds, shuriken-throwing effects, and provides haptic feedback to simulate the impact of a strike. A dedicated BGM button on the hilt plays classic background music from the show, including the iconic track "Gokui! Shin Gittai!!" Furthermore, the five uniquely shaped and colored buttons on the hilt correspond to each of the Kakurangers. Pressing them will play their individual roll call lines and activate special attack sound effects, complete with corresponding lights on the blade!
