As part of its 40th-anniversary celebration for the beloved Zoids franchise, Takara Tomy is expanding its modern revival line, the 'ADVANCED Zi SERIES'. The company has just announced that pre-orders for several new items, including the "AZ-16 Liger Zero Jaeger," the "AZ-02EX3 Liger Zero Type Zero Armor," and the "AZ-16EX Liger Zero Jaeger Unit Original Color," are scheduled to go live in May 2026.
The lion-type Zoid, "RZ-041 Liger Zero," is a unique machine developed from a "pure wild Zoid core," setting it apart from Zoids with standard operating systems. Its most iconic feature is the "CAS (Changing Armor System)," which allows it to swap armor and weapon loadouts to adapt to different environments and combat needs. In addition to its highly versatile base "Type Zero Armor," which unleashes the core's raw power, it can be configured into the melee-focused "Schneider," the high-speed "Jaeger," or the heavily-armed "Panzer" variants.
The new "AZ-16 Liger Zero Jaeger" is built on the same internal frame used for the previous "AZ-02 Liger Zero." It comes fully equipped with the newly sculpted, high-speed "Jaeger" armor, faithfully recreating its distinct blade-like antennae, various sensors, and the massive ion boosters mounted on its back. Combined with the motor-driven body, the model can replicate the deployment of its various mechanisms and features a life-like walking motion.

In addition, the "Liger Zero Type Zero Armor," which was originally included with the AZ-02 kit, will now be offered as a standalone set. The "Jaeger Unit" from the AZ-16 Liger Zero Jaeger will also get a separate release in an exclusive original color scheme. Both of these armor sets are scheduled to be limited releases, available exclusively through the TAKARA TOMY MALL and other select official retailers.
