BANDAI SPIRITS' TAMASHII NATIONS collectible toy division has announced the upcoming release of "Imitation Ultraman" as a special commemorative item for the "TAMASHII NATIONS LIVE ACTION FIGURE EXPO 2026." This popular S.H.Figuarts action figure is slated for a July 2026 launch.
First appearing in episode 18 of the original "Ultraman" series, Imitation Ultraman is a disguise used by Alien Zarab to sow distrust between Ultraman and humanity. In the show, he rampaged through the city, ignoring the defense force's attacks. Despite his more slender physique and sharper head and facial features compared to the real Ultraman, almost no one in the series recognized him as a fake until he was struck by Ultraman's Specium Ray, revealing his true form.
The "S.H.Figuarts Imitation Ultraman" figure's sculpt has been thoroughly supervised by Tsuburaya Productions' modeling department, faithfully bringing Imitation Ultraman's distinctive design to life as a fully articulated figure standing approximately 15 cm tall. Based on various materials from the original filming, the figure features sharper details for the head, facial features, and even the tips of the feet. It also boasts more vibrant colors for the eyes, the Color Timer, and the black lines on the upper body.
The overall articulation also inherits the design philosophy of previous "Ultraman" series releases, featuring flexible joint designs that minimize visible gaps in the sculpt. Accessories include five pairs of interchangeable hands and a miniature Hoshino Isamu figure holding a rope, allowing collectors to recreate iconic scenes such as destroying the city or capturing Hoshino Isamu.
