Remember Saya no Uta? Nitroplus dropped this adult AVG game on PC back in 2003, with a script penned by the legendary Gen Urobuchi. It tells a "pure love" story (and we mean *really* pure) that's arguably beautiful yet utterly tragic.
Recently, Saya no Uta announced a reading play adaptation, and an official X post promoting its "T-shirt merchandise" has gone absolutely viral. The design is so bizarre yet incredibly faithful to the original that even the game's original writer, Gen Urobuchi, couldn't help but roast it, sparking a huge discussion online.

It all started when the official Saya no Uta reading play account posted about its new T-shirt merch. They announced that this red T-shirt, meant for attendees, would be sold inside a "food container" as a tribute to *that* infamous scene from the original game. The post even included photos of the T-shirt-filled container stored in a "refrigerator."

▼ The front looks totally normal, just a cute Saya! LOL.

▼ But turn it around... and there's *that* iconic food container...

▼ The post even showed the T-shirt-packed container chilling in a "fridge" – fans of the series will *definitely* get it...

▼ This scene in the game was a serious SANity drain back in the day, right? XD
In the game, protagonist Fuminori's neighbor, Yosuke Suzumi, confronts Saya about a foul odor. Saya, however, alters his brain, distorting his senses. Driven to madness, he murders his wife and daughter. After attacking Saya, he's killed by Fuminori, who then dismembers his victims. Fuminori even goes so far as to store the bodies of Suzumi's wife and daughter in food containers, treating them as "food" in the refrigerator.

This kind of merchandise, packed with in-jokes and dark humor, was so wild that Saya no Uta's original writer, Gen Urobuchi himself, couldn't help but roast it, tweeting: "Seriously, whoever came up with this plan is definitely crazier than the original author!?"
Naturally, netizens immediately clapped back with a flurry of comments like: "You're the one who planted the seeds!" "You literally started this story!" "You're the last person who should be saying that, lol," and "The team really outdid the master, they totally get the original vibe!"

The Saya no Uta reading play is scheduled to run from June 4th to 14th at Sogetsu Hall in Minato Ward, Tokyo. And yes, *that* red T-shirt, packaged in *that* infamous food container, will be available for purchase at the venue. If you're brave enough to own one, you know where to find it! XD
